I knew had to include these phones as soon as I saw them. Just based on the looks alone, they deserve serious consideration. Now to their performance: Based on early purchaser reviews at Amazon, not only on do these phones look great, but they score well in both sound quality and comfort. So far all reviewers rated these either a 4 or 5 out of a possible 5.

The pros:

  • Looks: Where else can you find headphones housed in a cherry wood housing. Enough said.
  • Fit and Comfort: The downside of many clip-on phones is that the attached wire bracket that hangs over the ear is non-adjustable. The Audio Technica phones have rubber coated flexible wire hangers that allow adjustments. Not only that these present non of the hygiene issues that are synonymous with traditional earbuds. Many find the behind-the head configuration to be superior all other wire management schemes.

The Cons:

  • Expensive: At over $100, these are definitely on the expensive side.
  • Not the best in noisy environments: The degree is dependent on the degree of sealing that is achieved between the ear and the phone housing. These may not be the best for traveling, though with some fussing with the hanger the fit can usually be optimized.
